Imagine a world full of professionals without any qualifications.
It might be tough trying to imagine doctors being doctors without having actually gone to medical school. It might also be tough to imagine teachers teaching your children without having degrees in education.
Now, try and imagine having someone look after your children with no experience in early childhood development, no knowledge of first-aid training, and very little practice in overall child care.
It’s a scary thought for all but an actual reality for most.
Sugar & Spice Nanny Training Cape Town
The job of a nanny is somewhat demanding; this is especially the case when families have young children.
More often than not, nannies are faced with rather challenging situations all while trying to balance their household duties.
The truth is, young children are walking hazards, from bee stings to cuts and abrasions to putting anything they find in their mouth – looking after them is definitely a full time job.
The problem is, without any first-aid training, does your nanny really know what to do in one of those situations?
Our nanny training course was designed to bring parents comfort knowing that their nanny is fully prepared to look after their children and their safety.
A section of our nanny course is dedicated to first aid training. During this section, nannies are taught essential first aid skills which enable them to practically manage an emergency situation should one occur.
The list below details the typical types of situations nannies are often confronted with, and which we make sure to cover in our training course.
- Drowning/No Breathing (CPR)
- Fever and seizures
- Head and spinal injuries
- Bites and Stings
- Emergency numbers
- First Aid Kit contents
- In depth discussion about HIV and TB and preventing communicable diseases
Following completion of our course, nannies will receive 2 certificates and manuals - The Sugar and Spice Nanny Training manual and certificate and the First Aid manual and certificate, which is accredited with the resuscitation council of South Africa.
